RRB NTPC 2024 Vacancy Out


Indian Railways has announced a notice regarding the RRB NTPC Vacancy 2024, as per the notice RRB will recruit 10884 Non-Technical Popular Categories vacancies for both Graduate and undergraduate level posts. As RRB ALP vacancies were increased, therefore, there are chances that the vacancies can be increased for RRB NTPC too. Last time, the total number of vacancies was 35,281. The post-wise and educational qualification-wise vacancies are tabulated below.

A. Under Graduate Posts with Minimum Educational Qualification of 12th (+2 Stage) or its equivalent examination and Age between 18 to 30 Years.


B. Graduate Posts with Minimum Educational Qualification of a University Degree or its equivalent and Age between 18 to 33 years.

Selection Process


The selection process for RRB NTPC 2024 involves multiple stages:

  1. CBT-1 (Computer-Based Test - 1st Stage): This is the preliminary exam to screen candidates.

  2. CBT-2 (Computer-Based Test - 2nd Stage): This is the main examination.

  3. Skill Test: This includes typing tests or computer-based aptitude tests for relevant posts.

  4. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates from CBT and Skill Test will undergo document verification.

  5. Medical Test: Candidates must pass a medical fitness test to ensure they are fit for the job.


RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2024

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRBs) is soon going to release the RRB NTPC 2024 notification to recruit huge no. of vacancies for the posts of NTPC (Non-Technical Popular Categories) in Indian Railways. This year, the official notification will be released in between July- September 2024. To ace the Railway NTPC 2024 exam, it is necessary to know the Exam pattern and detailed syllabus of the RRB NTPC exam. This will help you to prepare judiciously for the RRB NTPC 2024 Exam.


RRB NTPC Stage-1 Exam Pattern 2024

  1. The 1st Stage of CBT is of a screening nature and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the posts.

  2. The exam duration for PWD candidates is 120 Minutes.

  3. There will be negative marking and a 1/3 mark shall be deducted for each wrong answer.

  4. The total no. of candidates to be shortlisted shall be 20 times the community-wise vacancies of posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in 1st Stage CBT cum choice of posts.

  5. The normalized score of 1st Stage CBT shall be used for shortlisting of candidates for 2nd Stage CBT as per their merit.

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR-40%, EWS40%, OBC (Non creamy layer) -30%, SC-30%, ST-25%. These percentages of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates in case of a shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.


RRB NTPC Stage-2 Exam Pattern 2024

Candidates who are shortlisted for 2nd Stage CBT availing the reservation benefits of OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/EWS, PwBD and ExSM shall continue to be considered only against OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/EWS, PwBD and ExSM for all subsequent stages of the recruitment process.

  1. The exam duration for PWD candidates is 120 Minutes.

  2. A negative marking of 1/3 is there.

  3. The level of questions will be different for the different level of posts.

RRB NTPC Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) 2024

(Only for candidates who have opted for Traffic Assistant and Station Master)

  1. Qualifying marks: The candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.

  2. This applies to all candidates irrespective of community or category and no relaxation in the minimum T- Score is permissible.

  3. Candidates will have to qualify in each of the test batteries of CBAT for considering them for the post of SM/TA.

  4. The CBAT shall have question and answer options only in English and Hindi.

  5. There shall be no negative marking in CBAT.

  6. The merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in the CBAT.


RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test (TST)

  1. Qualifying in nature.

  2. Eight times the number of vacancies will be called for typing test.

  3. The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on a Personal Computer only without editing tools and a spell check facility.


RRB NTPC Document Verification (DV)

Based on the performance of candidates in 2nd Stage CBT and based on the performance of candidates in both 2nd Stage CBT and CBAT/TST (as applicable), candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options.

RRB NTPC Salary Allowances

The railway is famous for giving the most exciting benefits and allowances to its employees. Apart from the Basic Pay, RRB offers several other benefits and allowances. These allowances will depend on the place and post of the employee. In addition to the basic pay, employees are entitled to various allowances and benefits, including:

➤ Dearness Allowance (DA): It is a cost of living adjustment allowance and is revised twice a year.

➤ House Rent Allowance (HRA): Varies based on the city of posting. It is categorized into X, Y, and Z cities.

➤ Transport Allowance (TA): Based on the city of posting.

➤ Pension Scheme

RRB NTPC 2024 Admit Card


  • Availability: The admit card will be available for download on the official RRB website. It will be released zone-wise by the Regional Recruitment Boards.

  • How to Download: Once available, you can download the admit card by visiting the official RRB website, navigating to the relevant section for admit card downloads, and entering the required details like registration number and date of birth.


Important Documents Required for the Exam

  1. ID Proof (with Photo):

    • Acceptable IDs include Aadhar Card, Passport, Driving License, Voter ID, PAN Card, or any other government-issued photo ID.

  2. Passport Size Photograph:

    • Carry a recent passport-sized photograph. This photograph should ideally be the same as the one used during the application process.

  3. Copy of the RRB NTPC Admit Card:

    • A printed copy of the downloaded admit card. Ensure it is clear and legible.

Important Notes:
